6th Grader’s Point Of View On JMS

As a sixth-grade student walking into the big middle school doors, you’re filled with a mix of emotions. You go from being happy you’re not in elementary school to getting lost in the big buildings! Here at Jupiter Middle School, there are lots of mixed emotions about how our sixth-graders feel in their first couple of weeks of middle school.

Madelyn Draughn

Madelyne was nervous and scared on the first day of school, but also really excited for a fresh start. Madalyne loves all of her teachers and also thinks Mr. Corie was really funny. She only got lost once.  Madalyne said, “I expected there to be a lot of people, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected.”

Jack Berry

As Jack walks through the Jupiter Middle School doors, he feels ready for new experiences and excited for a new chapter in his life. Jack thinks his teachers are really nice, super respectful, and that they will make a great impact on his 6th-grade year. Jack says his feelings for the first day of school were, “ I was kind of scared, but now 5 days into school, I feel confident that I know where all of my classes are.”

Rhodes Lucas

Coming to Jupiter Middle School, Rhodes was nervous that he wasn’t going to be able to find all his classes, but he was also really excited to be independent.  He was also expecting middle school to be crowded and kids getting pushed into the wall, and he said, “Middle school met all my expectations”. Rhodes also wanted to tell the future 6th graders, “Don’t be nervous”.

Ella Gundry

Ella’s first thought when walking into school on the first day was, “Definitely confusing, I didn’t know where to go.” During the first week, Ella was nervous about getting to know her teachers and peers. After the first week at Jupiter Middle, Ella got settled into her classes, felt comfortable with all her teachers, and understood the Mariner way almost automatically.
