Almost every year, JMS is fortunate enough to welcome new students. Some come from abroad, and some come from nearby. This year, we have two amazing new students who are no strangers to packing their bags and starting fresh. Their names are Asher Martinez and Coen Martinez! Welcome to Jupiter Middle School!
Asher and Coen Martinez are new 8th-grade twins from Indiana. They have lived in several different parts of the United States. Their family initially lived in northern New York, and due to a relocation of their mom’s job, they found themselves moving to Indiana. Their family settled in a small suburban town northwest of Indianapolis. They stayed there for a while, and then they discovered their family needed to move states yet again! This move proved to be the most drastic because they moved to a state that is the total opposite of where they lived before. Their family packed their things and set off for Florida, apprehensive at first, but thrilled when they arrived in our beautiful Sunshine State.
Asher enjoys Florida’s differentiation compared to back home. “It’s really nice down here, the weather is really warm…” Asher and Coen’s new house came with a pool that they enjoy using. Although sometimes, they say the heat down here can be a bit much. In Indiana, the high is mid-80s Fahrenheit, while in Florida, the daily high in August is usually low 90s. The boys will also have to get used to Florida’s landscape, which differs from Indiana’s. Instead of being surrounded by pine forests, they will be surrounded by our lovely varieties of palm trees.
Not only will they have to adjust to Florida’s unique climate, but they will have to adjust while leaving their friends behind. When asked if they missed Indiana, they replied that leaving their many friends behind was one of the hardest parts about moving to Florida. They are sure to make plenty of friends with their fellow students and neighbors here in Palm Beach County!
Something the twins will not be leaving behind are their extracurricular activities. Asher’s interests range from rugby, wrestling, and even coding! Meanwhile, his brother has a taste for sports such as baseball, football, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Coen’s sports schedule is extremely busy, but somehow, he balances two hours of football practice and still manages to complete all his work on time. Jupiter Middle can definitely benefit from the skills of these talented new athletes, on the field, and in the classroom!
As you can see, Asher and Coen Martinez are two very active and interesting individuals who bring a wide variety of skills to our campus. As a school, we are lucky enough to have them here, and we hope this time they’ll settle with us in Florida permanently. Between their academic skills and extracurricular activities, in and outside of school, these two new Jupiter Mariners are set up for success! Good luck!
