Theme Parks: Spooks and Screams

Many theme parks in the US celebrate Halloween with special events. Some of the events include: Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Disney World, the Howl-O-Scream event at Busch Gardens, and Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Georgia. 

 

These activities vary from trick-or-treating to parades to being chased around by impersonators of creepy characters. 

 

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Starting off strong, the most popular event to go to during Halloween in Disney World is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Here you can experience the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, where you can witness a live show of the spellbinding Sanderson sisters; Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular, with some spooky fireworks, projections, and a laser show; and the Disney Junior Jam, where you can dance and sing along with some of your favorite characters! 

Halloween Horror Nights at Universal

The most well-known and popular Halloween event at Universal is Halloween Horror Nights. According to the Universal Orlando website, Halloween Horror Nights(HHN) includes “10 haunted houses, scare zones, and more”. For the guests’ safety, we are not allowed to wear costumes or masks, and it is “not recommended for kids under the age of 13.” The haunted houses coming to HHN this year are Five Nights at Freddy’s, Terrifier, It’s Time to Face the Fallout, Jason Universe, Hatchet and Chains-Demon Bounty Hunters, Dolls: Let’s Play Dead, Grave of Flesh, Galkn: Monsters of the North, El Artista: A Spanish Haunting, and The Horrors of the Wyatt Sicks. Event dates are from August 29th to November 2nd. Get your tickets now!

Busch Gardens

Busch Gardens also has some amazing Halloween events that people are dying to go to. The Howl-O-Scream includes “haunted houses, scare zones, sinister shows, and more.” The park warns visitors that this event is intended for “mature audiences” as a result of “intense adult content such as violence, gore, and blood.” No costumes are allowed. The dates for this event last from September 5th to November 1st. There are 5 haunted houses, 5 scare zones, 4 hordes, live shows, and “never-before-seen surprises.” This event was voted #1 Best Theme Park Halloween Event, so set your expectations high and leave with them even higher!

Six Flags Over Georgia 

At Six Flags Over Georgia, you can experience a one-of-a-kind adventure at the Fright Fest. According to their website, the Fright Fest includes “Terrifying haunted mazes, sinister scare zones, exhilarating live shows, and specialty food & drink.” At any moment, you could be walking through a scare zone trying to get to your favorite ride. The Fright Fest is not recommended for children under the age of 13. “For family-friendly fun this fall, try… Kids Boo Fest and Oktoberfest.
