Respect, Resilience, and Rising Together: A Season to Remember

This soccer season was full of growth, both on the field and off of it. These boys on the soccer team developed in such a short amount of time and appreciate the process was the highlight of the year for coaches, parents, teachers, staff, and players. Mr. Hendrix, a coach for the team, says that “Seeing these boys smile at the end of a game or practice is what matters most.” This year’s team had a great understanding of collaboration and friendship. They had the perseverance to work hard, accept losing, and dexterity to learn from failure.

Supporting Players Through Challenges

Though this season was great, it wasn’t without its challenges. When Ethan Norman broke his leg, it was very hard on the team. However, the boys remained resilient and bounced back even stronger than ever.  Mr. Hendrix recalls that the team’s support for Ethan was inspiring. This was a great lesson for the boys to learn how to handle setbacks and the coaches focused on ensuring the players left tough situations feeling a sense of personal growth.

Core Values and Conduct

The 2025 boys soccer team valued respect above everything else.  The boys constantly supported each other and the team culture focused on high expectations for conduct and the boys handling themselves in a professional manner.  It can be challenging to manage emotions for 11-14 year olds, however nothing stopped this team from being mature and gracious.

In the beginning of the season, it was a fast turnaround to get the practices started before the games began. During the season, the team practiced once or twice a week, with sometimes two or three games scheduled. It’s a hard agenda to manage, but the team prevailed. Even though school work, tests, and life outside of school, this team conquered it all.

Next year the coaches focus will be building skills for the 6th and 7th graders playing on the team next year. This will help strengthen the structure for a successful team.
