Welcome back from Spring Break! I hope everyone is doing well and adjusting properly to coming back from school. We have great articles this month. Including an article on why some countries are happier than others, a Ms. Lowe spotlight, book recommendations, Easter and Passover recipes, and the most unusual April Fools pranks. But that is not all, so you have to check out the rest of the Mariner Messenger.
The word ‘April’ comes from the latin word ‘aperire’ which means to open, this was to represent the blooming of spring flowers in the Northern Hemisphere. Isn’t it interesting how the month’s name represents what is happening during the time period? It is represented by a diamond birthstone, daisy or sweet pea flowers, and Aries/Taurus zodiac signs. April is known for April Fool’s Day, the Titanic sinking, and major holidays. The month is also known for the births of many notable figures such as Queen Elizabeth II, William Shakespeare, Leonardo da Vinci, and Charlie Chaplin. And fun science fact, in the southern hemisphere, April is the seasonal equivalent of October!
We have one quarter left of school, so we better make it count. This month will be filled with lots of testing, new memories made, and sadness at the end of the school year. We must try our best to make this quarter count and end the year off well! I believe in you Mariners and you can do it!
